Mailing Lists

The Following Lists have been set up to enable exchange of information on various subjects covered by our home pages. Additional lists are planned for other surnames in the family -- so watch this space!

NOTES:

In each list you have the option of receiving mail in Digest mode. In this mode, instead of each item being sent to you separately a 'bundle' of items are collected and sent periodically. This is particularly useful when a list generates a high level of traffic as it enables items to be separated easily from other mail.

It is very helpful to recipients if you can put meaningful descriptions in the subject line of your contributions eg; 'BLOGGS South Africa 1844'

HENLY FAMILY

A discussion area for anyone who has an interest in genealogy related to the HENL(E)Y family in the UK and abroad. It includes all variants of the name eg. HENLY, HENLEY, HENDL(E)Y(E), or any other related spelling. The list owners Bob & Clive HENLY have traced their HENL(E)Y family back to the sixteenth century. But this is only the Wiltshire branch. There are several more in the UK and elsewhere in the world. The aim of this list is to help other researchers of the name and in the longer term collate information from them.

South American Emigration.

This is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in Emigration from the United Kingdom to South America during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Many thousands of people left these shores to develop agriculture and trade in South America but little has been documented compared with the similar ventures in Australia and New Zealand. The purpose of this list is to bring together people with an interest in this area of family history so that our various experiences and knowledge can be pooled. One of the first tasks will be to discuss how any information should be collated so that others joining the list can easily access what we have gathered so far. -- ideas please.

SILK

This is a discussion list for all family and local historians with an interest in the history of the silk industry ie. silk mills, mill owners, locations, silk weavers and their families and their origins. It is restricted to the United Kingdom pre-1900. The list owner currently has details of silk mills in Buckinghamshire and the families connected with them and it is intended to collect all information submitted to this list to form a data-base of the silk industry. Active participation in this list should enable members not only to extend their knowledge of their own family but also of the industry with which they were connected.
